
The Big Apple. I have no idea why they call it that, but it seems appropriate. Actually, it doesn’t. I have no idea how a piece of fruit makes a nice metaphor for a big, dirty, loud, brash city. Apples don’t strike me as anything like that at all. (A bit of research tells me that black slaves saw it as a place of big opportunity and nicknamed it such.)
The city doesn’t sleep either which should create a healthy market for sleeping pills.
If you’re going to New York - and you don’t need a reason, just go - why not consider using the Dial 7 NJ airport car service.
They charge $33 to get to LaGuardia which is pretty good, and strikes me as a much better option than a taxi which costs basically the same and would be much more dirty, unreliable and erratic on the part of the driver.
