Critics Rant is a movie reviews blog They also talk about tv shows.
Original idea? Or not.
This is the kind of concept that you have to do excellently in order to have any chance of succeeding. The sheer plethora of wanna-be reviewers out there is ginormous - after all, how much fun does getting paid to watch movies sound?
It’s quite a nice looking site.
The first review shown when i visited was Brad Pitt’s new movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. A smile spread across my face to see the reviews tag-line : “Wins Longest Title “.
The author proceeds to rip all sorts of shreds out of the movie but then quite curiously seems to pull up very short. It’s only after going over a few reviews do I realise that by clicking the title, you get to see a full, extended review.
It’s not a one pace site that bags out every movie or show. They’re intelligent, well-written reviews that really seem to capture in a nutshell the essence of the product they are reviewing. Some aren’t so interesting (who wants to read about Big Brother…? Not me) but a review of a new series by Gordon Ramsay is fascinating to say the least. He’s the famous British chef who in this series Kitchen Nights is travelling around the country helping struggling restaurant owners off the scrap-heap.
All reviews contain accompanying screen shots which adds a nice flavor to them. Just one comment to make, though. There’s more than enough tv shows and movies. The owner would probably do better by him/her self by choosing one or the other.
If you’re a tv or movie buff, probably a good one for the RSS Reader.
