Excursions can be a bit of a pissing contest between schools at times.
They’re otherwise known as educational tours and Hemisphere Travel will help any school piss further than the rest.
When Pete and I were in Beijing we saw a group of kids from Caulfield Grammar (ie. the school 20 minutes drive from where I live) traipsing around. They were in a pretty random area - we were just meeting up with the travel agent - but I felt so jealous of them.
The furthest our school ever got away was to ski trips. Then again, I can’t really complain as a lot of schools probably don’t even get that.
Hemisphere Travel have been going for 37 years and offer tours through the USA and Europe. They guarantee to beat any tour price, with the caveat that it has to match ‘quality’. That’s kind of ambiguous.
Reading through the site, this is the sort of thing that rich schools would want and afford. You want professional security guards patrolling the hotel hallways? You got it! Professional, accredited tour guides? Check!
This company must create some of the most special memories for children. I hope they’re grateful.
They could work on a website re-design but then again, noone’s perfect. The website is better than 80% of the other ones I look at.

CGS alum
The school runs its own campus in Nanjing, China - nothing to do with Hemisphere - and has been taking students to China for about 10 years. It’s very unique, but some other top Melbourne schools send their students to outdoor campuses in Australia for a full twelve months instead.

Hi
Yeh, maybe I didn’t make that clear enough, although I did say Hemisphere operates in the US and Europe.
Gotta love Google Alerts.
