Search engine optimisation is an important tool that should be incorporated in any online strategy to maximize site visibility. Perhaps the most basic SEO technique is the use of keywords. These keywords are found in the contents of the web site, which will then be indexed by search engines.

But SEO experts say that too much use of keywords (or misuse of these words) is not advisable. Search engines with advanced search processes will think that these sites are bogus and therefore will exclude them from the search list. And while these words should predominantly exist in web contents, it is important to incorporate them naturally into the text. Some people make use of keywords that are not really part of the text if only to attract more visitors through search engines. What they don’t realize is the fact that online users use these search keywords for a specific reason—and that is to go to the site that they wanted to visit. Let’s say your web site is about kitchen appliances. You want people to go visit your site so you use a lot of keywords like “office” and “home” appliances to attract all users who are looking for appliances. Users who use search engines to look for either office or home appliances will be disappointed to find that the site they were directed to don’t really have the products they are looking for. This is not good for your business because you are actually drawing in the wrong consumer base.
