A lot of people criticize boxing but I think it’s great.

It’s a battle between two people in a ring. That’s all it is. No salary caps, no special equipment giving them advantages…

A primal battle, one man versus one man, he has to attack and defend, attack and defend, attack and defend.

I just talked about De La Hoya, one of the great boxers. He’s ageing so Mayweather is probably going to whip him, but he has this awesome lightning jab on his left.

Few culture lovers are into things like boxing or most sport but I think they’re a little b ig for themselves. Sure, high culture brings creative genius at the hands of geniuses. But I think most people who love the geniuses don’t even understand why they are geniuses, they can’t hear it, someone who actually knew what they were talking about called them a genius and that was enough.

Sport is a battle. It’s not an open stage to be creative. There’s another man or team on the opposing side who can be just as creative, determined, fit or strong. The battle of wills, the level playing field, the sheer and complete unpredictability of every moment, the opportunities for heroism and courage. I think this is what makes sport so special.

Mayweather/De La Hoya tickets will probably be available soon for a BIG bout that there’s tons of speculation for. The dates are likely to be September 13 or September 20 and let me tell you folks, this is going to be massive.

I didn’t see the last one but it broke all sorts of records, including the most important one for the promoters, the PPV record.

De La Hoya is my favorite boxer. He’s a gun around the ring, I just love his energy and fighting spirit. I don’t like Mayweather Jnr as much but he has a LOT of fans and it helps that he won last time. (Boo!) He’s never been beaten previously (well, wait a few months…)

So many times these things end up being fixed because this sport is fairly corrupt but the last fight actually seemed legitimate. So in the absence of other boxing stars, these two are at it again and hopefully De La Hoya will take the points this time.

My biggest complaint is that this hasn’t happened sooner. There seems to be far too much politics in this sport which really gets in the way of the entertainment. I think there would be much more money in it for them if they had pretty regular bouts or changed the rules about how long someone can hold a title without having to defend it.

Tickets are going to sell out basically instantly one would imagine despite their high price. Fights like this don’t come around very often.

With Chelsea’s 3-2 win over Liverpool overnight, they have booked themselves a spot in the Champions League final against Manchester United, to be played in Moscow (I think.)

Three English teams made it to the semi-finals and for both Chelsea and Liverpool, they had made the semi finals three years running. It’s a bit of a golden age for English football right now maybe?

Anyway, this match up would be much more tantalising if it were two teams that weren’t actually from the same country. We’ll just have to live, hey?

I’ll probably watch the final depending what time it is on. I hate both teams, so the best thing about this match is someone has to lose. Hehe.
