I’ve been thinking of a trick to play with a phone card. When you look at phone card websites and see how cheap they are, it makes me wonder how they get cheaper rates than the people in that very same country.
For example, calling a cell phone in Australia is 0.8c/minute. But Australians pay 25-45c or even more a minute.
So maybe what an Aussie could do is buy a calling card for say, the United States, where you can get unlimited minutes on your card. In effect, its free.
So what they could do is use their American call card to dial into the phone card number in the States that they can use to call Australia. (If that makes any sense.)
So they’d be paying 0.8c a minute to call cell phones.. a pretty bloody big discount if you ask me!
I’m not sure if that trick would work but if you’re looking for call cards check out The Rich Com who have a large, well-organised database of calling cards in stock.
I used their website to research the prices quoted above! It’s a good website but I think it could live without the flash banner at the top (just my opinion!). If you read this before the end of April 28, also be advised that they’re running an “end of semester sale” with discounts of at least 10% on all phone cards with a minimum $25 spend.
