Sleeping :)

Something I have been talking about in conversations the past couple of weeks has been the idea of ’self-talk.’ Self-talk is how you manage your emotions, moods, actions etc by the way you talk to yourself. Pretty simple idea but very hard to master.

Today when I woke up for my alarm at 4.20am I was a bit grumpy, was a bit like.. “oh, I hate getting up early, two more days, this sucks.”

Then another thought flashed acros my head “Wow, you’re such a big boy now, you can get up early a whole 7 days in a row! You must be so proud of yourself.” I smiled and realised I was being a sook and got over it straight away.

Simple example, but it was interrupting a negative thought train which could have spoiled my day, ya know. We all have varying self-talk but it needs to be positive, we shouldn’t allow ourself to be interrupted by negative thoughts.

However, there is a small issue relating to sleep. That being I haven’t had a good nights sleep in a nearly three weeks now. Takes me ages to get to sleep and I wake up a few times during the night, even if just for a little bit. It’s always great to look at the clock and realise you have a couple of hours of sleep ahead and you don’t have to get up right away, but it’d be nice to have a good night’s sleep. Ideas, anyone?
