Smith Mountain Lake is a gorgeous lake located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

I’m unable to show you pictures from the website that I am looking at because it is in flash, but it looks really nice - similar in a way to the lakes in the English midlands, but more rugged and pretty in my personal opinion.

The Coves at Smith Mountain Lake is a new gated community being built on the shores of this beautiful area. How great would it be to live right on the water of a lake in rugged beauty? It’s something I have fantasized about before!!

They have a great website which really compliments their goal of sharing the serenity and well, niceness, of the area that this new estate is located in. There’s just 32 plots with 9 sold already. The good thing is that there’s many waterfront properties left with docks.

Right at this moment I am really jealous of the people that get to live there! amongst the 500 miles of shoreline that this lake offers.

I convinced a Christian guy tonight within 20 seconds that he should change his position.

He said to me “homosexuality is a sin!”. I said mate, that may be so, but since when was Government in the business of regulating sin?

If Christians don’t want gays to marry, they need to win the battle of ideas, not legislation! Since when has someone ever become a Christian because their chosen way of life is outlawed?

Not only this, legislation is the tool of the weak and the lazy to use the law to force people to follow their ideas without having to convince them that their ideas are correct.

He said to me “but winning the battle of ideas is so hard!” and I said yes! It’s great! If everyone chased after the latest fad idea, the world would be in a state of constant turmoil. No, the best ideas will always win through if someone wins them through. The world is an idea meritocracy - they will reward someone with good ideas who works hard to present those ideas in a consistent, fact-based fashion.

If you think gay marriage should be wrong, fine. But don’t use legislation to do the dirty work for you. Get out there and do the jobs of winning hearts and minds yourself. If you’re not prepared to do that to support your idea, it’s got no business influencing their life in the first place.
