Earth Hour

It’s an embarrassment that Australia was the country that came up with the idea of Earth Hour. Lately, I’ve been reading a few articles from different countries mocking us for being the idiots that started it.

But if we started it, the Canadians ran with it. Similar numbers of Canadians signed up to it as Americans, despite having 1/10th the population of the United States.

I’m not sure people realised how futile Earth Hour was. By dropping electricity percentage by 5% across a small group of countries, we’ve delayed Global Warming by approximately 20 seconds. Woohoo!

Someone at my work said “so long as it keeps the wankers happy.” And I find myself agreeing with this sentiment. The great thing about lefties is their obsession with symbolism means nothing ever gets done by them. Which means less lives destroyed by their good intentions.

Phone Home

Given my preparations for heading overseas to Spain, it’s timely that a phone cards website has lobbed across my desk. Pinshark.com has some pretty amazing deals on phone cards. For example, for $5 you can get unlimited calls from the USA to Australia.

Unlimited.

I’m starting to feel a little ripped off by other companies now. Even to call a mobile phone in Iraq it’s 11c a minute.

In fact, the products are so good that I think PinShark offers some incredible deals. They need to improve their website a bit though. In order to inspire the trust of their customers, they could use some nice web design to seem a bit more established.

When I go overseas I can’t see any reason why not to use PinShark. I personally don’t give a rats about how a website is designed. If they have good products, I am there!!

8 Tips

My work is one of those that his tipping competitions, like basically every other workplace in Victoria.

Second week in, I scored a perfect round. I’m pretty happy with this, perfect rounds are very rare indeed.

There’s not much more to say really besides - party time!

In other good news, Newcastle United has basically assured itself of safety from relegation after defeating Tottenham 4-1. There were fears after Kevin Keegan’s team didn’t win in eight fixtures that the Toon were heading for the Championship but these have nearly all been alleviated by the come from behind win last night in London.

Por que no blog en Español? Patience, people. Plus I still have to figure out how to type upside down question marks.

This week is going to involve some very hard studying of Spanish. It’s still fun.

The best thing about learning a language is that you can feel your progress, and test your progress so easily. You can also hide yourself from the things that are discouraging - such as listening to a group of native speakers talking to each other, and revel in the things that are encouraging - reading newspaper articles .
