I stoppped in at a travel agent today, and here’s the go : Flight Centre is having a travel expo on Feb 9 and 10, when my plane fare to Spain will be the cheapest.
He said it should clock in at around $2200.
I’ve just hit up my accounts like Paypal on the internet and hit withdrawal.
I currently have $860. So $1340 in the next few weeks isn’t too far out of reach but I only get paid 3 times between now and then. I must find another way to earn/steal cash or else I’ll be out of pocket a few hundred bucks when I finally get around to booking… :S
Firstly it looks like I’m gonna be going through my stuff for something to sell on eBay.
Secondly I have just written an eBook — 77 ways to save money on your petrol bill. Gotta try and figure out how to make money on it!
I’m 23 today and working from 5am until 3.30pm.. that is, right now.
To celebrate this, I’m at Guba.com watching online tv. Search for man stroke woman, a british sketch show that is quite funny.
My music theme for the day is Arctic Monkeys.
In a foreign place, the saving grace was the feeling,
That it was a heart that he was stealing,
Oh he was ready to impress and the fierce excitement,
The eyes are bright he couldnt wait to get away,
I bet the juliet was just the icing on the cake,
Make no mistake no,
And even if somehow we could have shown you the place you wanted,
Well I’m sure you could have made it that bit better on your own,
And I bet she told a million people that she’d stay in touch,
Well all the little promises they dont mean much,
When theres memories to be made,
And I hope you’re holding hands by new years eve,
They made it far too easy to believe,
That true romance cant be acheived these days,
And even if somebody could have shown you the place you wanted,
Well I sure you could have made it that bït better on your own,
You are the only ones who know
Running off over next doors garden
Before the hour is done
It’s more a question of feeling
Than it is a question of fun
The confidence is the balaclava
I’m sure you’ll baffle ‘em good
Will the ending reek of salty cheeks
And runny makeup alone
Or will blood run down the face
Of a boy bewildered and scorned
And you’ll find yourself in a skirmish
And you wish you’d never been born
And you tie yourself to the tracks
And there isn’t no going back
And it’s wrong wrong wrong
But we’ll do it anyway cause we love a bit of trouble
Are you pulling her from a burning building
Or throwing her to the sharks
Can only hope that the ending is as pleasurable as the start
The confidence is the balaclava, i’m sure you baffle ‘em straight
And its wrong wrong wrong, she can hardly wait
That’s right, he won’t let her out his sight
Now the shaggers perform
And the daggers are drawn
Who’s the crooks in this crime?
That’s right, he won’t let her out his sight
Now the shaggers perform
And the daggers are drawn
Who’s the crooks in this….
Crime!
That’s right, he wont let her out his sight
That’s right, he wont let her out his sight
That’s right, he wont let her out his sight
You’ll be able to post any day of the most
For the sights of all time
You knew that it’d be trouble right before the very first kiss
Quiet and assuming but you heard that they were the naughtiest
She pleaded with you to take it off
But you resïsted and fought
Sorry sweetheart, I’d much rather keep on the balaclava
Those who know me know my goal is at some point in my life to be a fluent speaker of a language, preferably Spanish.
I recently bought a cd-set by a dude - now deceased - called Michel Thomas.
It’s an 8 hour cd course that he made in the years leading up to his death as a way of preserving his teaching methods.
Michel Thomas became famous amongst the glitterati of Hollywood for his ability to teach a language in a phenomenally quick amount of time.
Celebrities beat down his door to be taught by the great man. As such, as the years of his life slowly drew to an end, his company was able to charge $25,000 (you heard right) for a 5 day group course. He also offered a 100% money back guarantee, which was not once redeemed in the entire history of the company.
Realising his unique methods needed to live on, he made a cd set based on Day 1 of the course for French, German, Italian and of course, Spanish.
Since then his proteges have released titles in Russian, Arabic and Mandarin. (Ballsy.)
I’m halfway through the sixth cd of the course and let me tell you, it’s .. amazing.
Normally when you’re learning you feel like you HAVE to do it, for your own benefit. Even if you know it’s good for you, you still must discipline yourself.
Not so in the case of Michel Thomas. I decided to listen to half an hour of the first cd just to see what it was like. It was my intention to do the course properly in June.
That half an hour ended up turning into 3 and a half hours, and let me tell you, I only stopped because I had to go to work in the evening! I listened until the very last possible minute!
It was the same case today. As soon as I got some free time I sat down to the cds, and man, this guy is mind blowing.
You always feel as if you’re just above the water, that you could sink any minute, but he’s holding you, you can trust him completely, that he knows what he’s doing. If something doesn’t lodge instantly in the memory it doesn’t even matter!
He seems random as he is presenting - at first - but he builds a very neat tapestry of understanding. He gets you to understand the logic of the language and then prompts the students to use that logic to figure out a word. It’s quite brilliant. I will definitely buy the 5Cd Advanced, 2Cd builder and 5Cd Vocabulary builder. It’s $123 more to get all that but man, will it save me a lot of time and energy when I get to Spain.
