So I was spending the last post ruminating about spending a few months overseas.

How about a few lazy months on the Mexican Coast!? How good does that sound! You know it!

This Rocky Point vacation website (esp: Puerto Peñasco) points out heaps of places - some cheap and some expensive - where you can relax near the beach.

Far out I just want to hop on a plane right now and go there! I’d have to buy a lap-top but it’d be so cool. My online income right now is enough to sustain me in some countries but not all just yet - I could easily get by in a place like Thailand or Indonesia. I wouldn’t be able to get by in Mexico. Maybe in a months time. :)

FYI : Qué casualidad is Spanish for ‘what a coincidence!’

I have a pretty good idea about where I want to travel in the next few years.

Spain, definitely, and while there parts of Europe. I want to go back to Thailand - get stuff tailored, get teeth done. I also want to take a big trip in South America to test my new found Spanish skills.  Northern and sub-Saharan Africa : yes sir. America? Definitely! Canada? Moreso!

But I was thinking about travelling today. And while the idea of travelling excites me, I felt the twinge.

 The settling down twinge.

God help me.

I’m not sure if it’s the settling down twinge or it’s the ’spend a prolonged time in a country’ twinge. Which is a very nice twinge, and perfect for Spain.

The idea of doing a crash in for 2 weeks tour and crash out again… I don’t find attractive.

But living in Spain for 5, 6 months and having small breaks into other parts of Europe and Northern Africa.. that sounds very attractive.

Take me away…

People in the Gippsland are still fighting to have their home insurance policies honoured. A few years ago there were major floods throughout the whole region and many people were left up a creek without a paddle.

Home insurance is cheap. (I nearly said cheap and affordable but that means the something, doesn’t it!). It’s also affordable. (There, I said it.)

The problem isn’t the price, the problem is whether an insurer will actually honour your policy or not.

Luckily for car insurance it’s a much different kettle of fish. I have never really heard any of my friends who have totalled their cars (and there’s a few of them - for example, 4 write-offs within my family in the past 3 years!) complain about their company. Everything has always worked out ok.

Why is it so hard to get insurance to pay out on houses? Obviously the massive cost to the insurer comes into it. But every insurer who dicks around on paying a house out seriously risks major scandal on national tv. I’m not sure the negative publicity would be worth the saving.

One last thing : have I got that song into your head? It’s certainly in mine!

Burnin down the house!
