Indoor soccer

I have copped a lot of stick for being a mixed netball player. (For Americans, netball is a sport popular throughout the Commonwealth nations - ie British Empire countries - and traditionally played by women.)

Now I’m an indoor soccer player and scored the winning goal with 20 seconds left. Feel my muscles, if you dare…

Blog update

A couple of things happening in my blogging world.

Firstly, I’m probably going to turn this into a ‘whore out to money’ blog which will be so crammed with crap you would unsubscribe straight away.

Secondly, in light of this I will move my normal posting to a different place - probably just matnewton.com/blog or something like that.

Thirdly, am toying with a list of possible new domains and ideas for blogs. I’m thinking about starting an A League blog that has a lot of support from regular guest writers. There’s not a quality A League blog yet but - and this is interesting - it has a far stronger online presence or community than AFL and NRL put together. The Melbourne Victory forum is the single biggest team forum in Australia. Sydney FC is the second biggest.

I’ll leverage these forums for guest writers and because of this, publicity into there.

I’m also toying with a different blog on current affairs, politics and primarily Christianity. I don’t really like using MatNewton.com to talk about my gripes about the Old Testament. Religion blogs - especially controversial wind-up ones - build communities like wildfire so hopefully I’ll be able to get somethng happening there, use a lot of guest posting.

These are all maybes.

The one that I will most likely do I will keep under wraps.

Ego post coming up.

I may have talked about this on my old, crappy Blogspot blog. I’m not sure… and who cares.

I have a pretty simple method of finding out whether a girl in my general social group - ie. of a few hundred people - is interested in me.

Firstly : this works.

Secondly : every girl I have ever brought up this with agrees that it is true.

It’s pretty simple, but if a girl is interested in you she’s going to track you around the room with her eyes. Every now and then she’ll look up and try to find you to make sure you haven’t left without saying goodbye to her.

So as you move around, just keep her in your peripheral vision. If she starts looking around and then stops every time she sees you, there’s a chance she’s interested. (There could be other reasons obviously and these are purely circumstantial.)

I tried it on my previous girlfriend and it worked a treat. Quite hilarious sometimes actually.. you’d be surprised at the lengths girls will look around to make sure you’re still there.

You need to move several times to get a true gauge.

If unsure, do on another night.

When do I do this? When I notice that I seem to be having a bit more than average incidental eye contact with someone, for example. Or if I’m desperately hoping that hot chick is into me (more often not….)

The reason I’m talking about this is I currently have more than one girl passing this test and this is a cool feeling. First time ever! *Toots horn*

Unusually, one of them I have a very acrimonious history with - but more in the sense of I have treated her horribly in order to try and cut off that ‘feeling in the gut’ out of loyalty to the (now former) GF.

I’m thinking of starting an ego blog.
