March 2007

Vista Print have certainly created a large splash on the internet in the past few years. The primary reason for this has been their deal offering business cards ‘for free’. You just wear the shipping charge, but even with that the prices are quite good.

For webmasters, they also have an affiliate programme that pays a publisher/blogger $4 per sale. Not a huge amount but if you send forty people off for free business cards, that’s good retun for not much effort.

My mother used one of their templates to create some business cards (which arrive after c.three weeks) and was quite happy.

Sign up to their email newsletter and you’ll be deluged with deals. By deluge, I mean one or two emails a week (of course.) The lesson to be learned here is : sit and wait for an even better deal, as it will probably hit your inbox within a week anyway.

They do a bunch of different things for free. At the very least, it’s worth checking out.

I’m interested to hear from other people who have used their service or affiliate programme.

My website, www.newtonclothiers.com, today passed a small milestone which has made me pleased. It’s private, but it has nonetheless put me in a good mood.

As a result, until midnight on March 22 if you use the coupon code BLOG you’ll receive 20% off. All shirts have shipping included. Buying a gift voucher means you can put off all the other stuff - such as measurements - until a time more convenient.

To be completely honest, I don’t even know which midnight it is. I’m not techno-literate enough to make my shopping cart software tell me what time it is, although I can tell you now that it’s not Australian. At a guess it’s probably GMT which means that as this post goes up you have less than 36 hours. Eep!

It’s either that or winning the competition.

My three hints for the next time you speak in public

My three ideas on hiring the perfect employee.

Firstly, the picture in the post previous was not me and the neither of the two guys were wearing my shirts. I should have made that more obvious.

I actually found this picture at StyleForum.net just as I was in the genesis stages of launching Newton Clothiers.

The picture is such a fantastic contrast.. it really shows how good you can look with a bit of extra effort.

I’ve also had a rather amusing Google search come in : “How to screw over your employees.” I wonder if the person found what they were looking for.

My younger brother Pete got an sms from a friend trying to trick him into giving away the answer to the riddle! Thankfully, he didn’t.
